Interesting Company
Sudden Industries was founded over 14 years ago by entertainment veteran Bob Holmes. How he made the journey from recording artist to recording producer to starting one of the first digital agencies servicing the entertainment, media and publishing business is an interesting one, but too long and complicated to include here. Call him up and ask - it’s a good story and he loves to tell it.
What we can say is that Sudden, located in New York City across from Madison Square Park, has dedicated itself from the beginning to creating engaging user experiences across a number of digital platforms, including web and broadband (remember when they meant two different things?), ITV, mobile and kiosks. We’ve more than satisfied a great roster of clients, by providing them with the breadth of services usually found at larger agencies, while delivering them the personal attention of boutique shops.
Interesting people
Our personal approach and our relationship with our clients have everything to do with the people that work here. We’re proud of the attitude and atmosphere you feel the minute you walk in the door. Our clients seem to grow quite attached to our staff, which is probably why we enjoy such long relationships with them. It’ll take more than reading a little blurb to get to know each and every one of us, but hey, it’s a start.
Bob Holmes, Founder, CEO and Chief Creative Officer
If you looked at Bob’s resume, you’d think he planned this all from the beginning: from RISD graduate to recording artist to record producer to running a production company that became a marketing company and then a digital agency. Sounds logical now, but you try living through it. Nevertheless, this path has ended up providing Bob with a lot of experience in creative technologies, from music videos (remember them?), to Enhanced CDs (how about them?), broadband, ITV and mobile. In each case, he has dedicated himself to creating the most engaging user experiences that have actually had impact on both audience and sales. He’s won a few awards along the way as well, but he’s more likely to tell you about his cowboy toy collection, which is a lot more fun anyway. He’s usually not one to toot his own horn, but you can find him speaking at many trade conferences and shows including CES, AFI, and Digital Hollywood.Lan Wong, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Finance Officer
Lan has been part of Sudden Industries since May 2000. As COO of the company, she has successfully managed both the day-to-day operations of Sudden as well as being integral in guiding our future business strategies.
Prior to joining Sudden, Lan served as Controller for the legendary (some say infamous) Pseudo Programs, Inc., a privately held NYC online entertainment company that (some say) created the online video portal business that paved the way for the likes of YouTube. Before that, she spent five years with Flonetworks, Inc., a privately held multimedia email company based in Toronto that she helped build until it was acquired by DoubleClick in 2001.
Lan has a great passion for books and travel and is never happier than when she is reading historical fiction in a faraway place.
